Mayor for a Day Contest
For the past two years, the City of Parksville has held a Mayor for a Day essay contest. The question, What you would do to make Parksville the best city on Vancouver Island?
This contest is an opportunity for the City to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions made by young people to our community. Held in April of each year, the contest is open to students in grades 5 to 12, Parksville residents or attending school in Parksville. The contest is closed for 2012.
One youth is selected by Parksville Council to be honorary Mayor for a Day where the winner will meet with City leaders, tour facilities, work alongside the City’s Mayor for the day and read the winning essay at a Council held during Youth Week BC.
