Dog Licences

The Dog Licence and Pound Bylaw regulates the licensing of dogs in the City. Under this bylaw, owners of dogs must not permit their animals to bark in a manner which disturbs the quiet of the neighbourhood, must not allow their dogs to be at large, and must take special precautions to ensure that vicious dogs do not present a danger to the public. Every dog owner must immediately remove excrement left by their dog on another person's property or on public property.

Dog licences must be purchased in-person from City Hall (weekdays, 8 am to 4 pm) and the BCSPCA (Tuesday to Saturday, noon to 4 pm). All dogs older than six months must wear a municipal dog tag, renewed annually. Rates for tags are as follows:

Licence Fee (Prior to January 31)

$30 Not Neutered/spayed
$20 Neutered/spayed

Licence Fee (After January 31)

$35 Not Neutered/spayed
$25 Neutered/spayed
